The 1-BUDTM Earphone Line Has Just Been Upgraded

Now with a Stronger and More Flexible Cord

The very first Single-Ear Stereo Earphone was designed to combine the audio from both the left and right stereo channels to work with an iPod®.

The concept began when a concerned father called Barry Leeper, exasperated because he’d searched high and low for a special earphone for his son who was hearing impaired in one ear.

Barry, a Bio-medical Engineer and inventor did some research online and found many people were searching for a stereo earphone for one ear. He began experimenting with various earphone designs and he finally came up with one that would combine both audio channels. After much experimentation, Barry ultimately came up with a design that would mix the sound into one earpiece while remaining compatible with all types of MP3 players. It was extremely gratifying to ship the finished product to the young man, knowing that his dad was the inspiration for stereo sound in one ear.

And so the 1-BUDTM was born! What was very unique about this earphone was that it also worked perfectly with Mono and Stereo equipment without any adapters or switches. Barry filed a patent for this earphone design and his company, Scan Sound, Inc., began offering the 1-BUD earphone online at www.scansound.com in early 2008.

The single-stereo earphone is extremely well suited for those who have a unilateral hearing impairment. It has also enabled many to safely use an earphone while keeping their other ear open to the activities going on around them.

The 1-BUD has enabled people everywhere to enjoy stereo music in one ear whether they are running, jogging, bicycling, driving or just relaxing with their MP3 Player, iPod®, iPhone®, iPad® or Computer.

1-BUD Earphone Evolves
Of all the products Scan Sound produces, the 1-BUD has provided us with the most grateful clients who are not hesitant to share their joy about their first introduction to true stereo sound in one ear. The phone calls and testimonials are truly awesome and have driven us to produce models in different designs and colors.

The very first 1-BUD earphones were a basic black color. Although most of the early customers were very pleased with the earphone, many people began to make various suggestions for new models and various improvements.

Scan Sound introduced several new models, including one that had enhanced Bass sound. Known as the 1-BUD-PRO, the white colored earphone became an instant hit. Other models were also introduced to give users various options for listening to stereo sound in one ear. A tan colored version called the 1-BUD-S, made the earphone less conspicuous. For those who were more active and had a harder time keeping an earphone in their ear, the LEFT-BUD and RIGHT-BUD were produced, and their soft- contoured, ear-hugging earpiece made these earphones especially useful for so many people who otherwise just could not keep an earphone in their ear.

Customer feedback has always been a driving force and we hope all our customers will benefit from these and future improvements as our earphones continue to evolve.

medium and one small size rubber ear tip. These ear tips will enable individuals to easily find the best fit for their ear canal. A better fit, equals better sound!

Active Fit Earphones Due Out in Early Fall
The Active Fit Earphones are designed for those who typically have a very hard time keeping an earphone in their ear. The unique cord will make this earphone a great fit for those who participate in all kinds of sports activities.

The clear-jacketed silver cord is waterproof and it will actually lasso around the ear to hold the earphone in place. A slight pull on the cord will essentially cinch the earphone cord tighter around the ear, holding it firmly and comfortably in the ear.

These earphones will come with a nice carrying pouch. There will be one Stereo Dual-Ear Model with a short cord; great for clip-on MP3 players. It will include an extension microphone/clip unit that will mate with most cell phones including the Apple iPhoneTM.

Left-Ear and Right-Ear single-ear stereo models will also be available, and these earphones will also be compatible with most cellular phones that accept a 3.5mm 4-conductor plug.

Coming Soon
Two new models are due to be released in early Fall. The first model, dubbed the MXP will be a premium version of our “Pro-Series” earphones. These Studio Quality earphones will be available in dual-ear and single-ear stereo versions.

The wiring of this earphone is rather unique. The cord has a braided nylon jacket and the wire strands inside are further strengthened using Kevlar, providing superior strength.
These earphones have an offset silicone rubber ear tip to help position the earphone, holding it in the ear and maximizing the sound transfer into the ear canal.

The silver back to this black and red earphone will enable the user to give the earphone an added push to seal the Ear Tip in the ear canal. This extra step helps to hold the earphone in the best position to maximize the transfer of the deep bass sound.
Each of these earphone headsets will include a soft carrying case and integrated microphone/button-switch.

The 3.5mm 4-conductor plug will fit most cellular phones, including the Apple iPhoneTM.
