Replacement Audio Amplifier for MRI Patient Stereo Systems • Part No. PTA22BT

This audio amplifier has a line-in with 2 RCA audio jacks to accept low-level audio from music sources, such as an AM/FM stereo unit or the earphone jack of an MP3 player. The amplifier also has Bluetooth built-in, so it can be used to receive audio from MP3 players that are Bluetooth enabled, such as an Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod.

The audio amplifier has speaker terminals on the rear which will connect to left and right channel audio cables that go to the Patient Acoustic Interface in the MRI scan room. There is a microphone input on the amplifier. When the microphone is activated, the amplifier automatically ducks down the music source coming from the line-in input or Bluetooth music sources, making this amplifier ideal for use with an MRI sound system.

It is easily possible to substitute this newer amplifier in place of the original PT600A amplifier that we typically used with our older MRI patient stereo sound systems.

The PTA22BT model has a volume knob on the front which will easily set the music level that goes out to the patient acoustic interface. A headphone jack is present to allow users to test the amplifier and hear the sound that normally goes out to the patient. When plugging headphones into that jack, it defeats the audio going out of the amplifier's rear speaker terminals, so the headphone must be removed after testing, so that the sound will resume and the music will be heard in the patient headphones.

Customers who have a Scan Sound MRI stereo that are purchasing this amplifier as a replacement for the older PT600A can request a diagram that shows how to connect the new amplifier in place of the old one.
